Remembering Amber

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

As a nurse, you get to meet people. Some of them you get a chance to change their life. Some of them change you. I didn't meet Amber in the hospital. I met her on the bus on my way home from Cebu City 2-3 years ago. Believe me, I vaguely remember anything. She sat on the aisle beside me. She was vomiting as she gets sea sick (motion sickness) easily like me. So I immediately offered my menthol candy hoping that it would help her ease being sick. That started our conversation. I had stepped down the bus and that was the last time I saw her.

150 days ago, as I return home from my night shift, a woman was waiting for me at home. She told me that her daughter wants to see me. I felt weird. I asked myself if I had done something wrong lately. Mischief don't fall short when I am around. So, I went to their house only to realize I was being summoned by someone who is on her deathbed.

Her mom helped me refresh my memory. She reminded me when and where I met Amber. She told me that on the day I met Amber was the day she was diagnosed with Leukemia. She said that I told Amber that my favorite song was Dancing in the Moonlight by Toploader which still is my favorite song. Whenever Amber was feeling lonely and feeling the pangs of the disease she always ask her mom to play that song.

A few minutes after I saw Amber, she had left the other side. I was just standing there stunned and feelingless. I don't know how to react. I was out of words. I had a lot of questions.

I have realized that, I have done something good with my life. I have succeeded as a nurse. I have changed one life and that's all that matters.

The world wont be doomed if we are kind to one another. Even the simplest gesture of kindness could mean so much to someone. We only have one life. We have to serve a purpose and whatever it maybe we have to get ready for it. So that when it is time for you to go, you have a pretty good resume.

Now I have one angel in heaven watching over me. I miss you little Amber.

Life Goals

Saturday, August 22, 2015

Each of us should have goals. I don't care how big or small as long as there is something worth working for. Something to look forward to. Something we aspire.

My goal in life is to create a happy environment. The world is already fucked up, let's not make it messier than what it is.

What is your goal?

The Types of People You Will Find on Facebook.

Sunday, August 16, 2015

A lot of people think that they got their Facebook game too strong but let me tell you, it's too ratchet! It makes you wanna roll your eyes out. The things people do to get that one hundred facebook likes. So let me tell you the kinds of people you will see on Facebook. Just a fore warning! I am not hatin!

1. The Events Organizer- this is the person to go to when you want to know where's the best place to hang, the best party in town, where's the music festival and what it's all about. One thing though, he can't afford to go to those parties. He just post them on facebook to let people know that he is in the mix. #dirtyvibe

2. Filter Fellow- I have to be honest, this one had their selfie game too strong but the thing is the filter game just put them to shame. How many apps does your photo had to go through just for you to be satisfied? Then you post it like we won't notice. #nofiltershame

3. Faux Food Blogger- this one had all his shit together. What I mean by that is, he will save all his money just to go to that place and eat what everyone is eating because that's what everyone is eating. Well there is nothing wrong with that but then the thing is just don't take photos of what you were eating to the point where we almost see the price tag of that gourmet. Post that shit on facebook. Oh that elusive facebook like! #foodlikernotaBlogger

4. The Major Whiner- this is the one who always throw fits on facebook. Rants about almost anything. Wow! Talking about making your own personal diary. To me it feels like they are carrying the weight of the world by having all the problems anyone could possibly have. #rantsandraves

5. The Lurker- People call this stalking. The kind that doesn't post anything, doesn't like or comment on anything for months or even years but when you meet them in real life that person is very well updated with everyone's life. He just sit there in the couch minding everyone's business. #secretstalker

6. Facebook Congeniality- The one with over 4500 facebook friends or even had 2-4 facebook accounts for no reason. Hello there, creating new accounts doesn't make you pretty. #internetcelebrity

7. The Bible Boxers- the one who post anything that has a reference to God. Gospel verses prayers and all that stuff is in this account. #gospelgangsters

8. The News Master- Yep the name speaks for itself. I mean he seemed like your typical news anchor but on facebook. #dost #pagasa

9. The Gamer- Who wants to have game request? Nobody, so stop sending game invites already.

10. The Clock- The one who always greet someone. Time checks and put it on facebook. #thecocks

Mayora Diaries: Wary Homage

Saturday, August 15, 2015

This week's narrative is about being wary.  Sometimes we get tired of the usual. We get tired of things that we always see every day. It is normal. What we have to do is to get out of that element for a while. Loosen those tightened screws and do new things. There is always something new to do or see everyday. Just get out and rock it!

20 Random Facts About Me

Monday, June 29, 2015

People think that they know me through and through but they only know what I choose to show them. There are things about me that I still keep to myself. Nope it's not about me being fake to you but there's things about me that not all people know. You think you know me but you have no idea.

1. I love listening to music. What I mean by that is I love listening to songs that I don't really understand the lyrics. I love to listen to dutch, french, and danish rap songs. I love the fact that I can't memorize the lyrics coz I can just play it over and over again without me getting sick of it. I don't know why but once I memorize the lyrics I just get sick with the song. Of course, Korean songs take the cake.

2. I'm a bookworm. Yeah, believe me I love to read. Give me a good book and I could just lay down and get lost with it. Right now I'm into Mortal Instruments the series.

3. I don't like surprises. I will hate you if you do that to me.

4. I'm maybe fat but I'm a picky eater. I swear! Stop laughing.

5. I have a lot of twitter accounts 5 of them have more than 1 million followers. My personal account only have less than 200. Try messaging those parody accounts if I notice you I will tell you if it's me promise.

6. I'm so crazy with snapchat. #donthate

7. I have college scholars. 2 of them have already finished college.

8. I'm a ghost writer for a major clothing company. I usually do their press releases. 2 major international brands.

9. I'm a hardcore motorcycle fanatic. I just love the danger it brings.

10. I have travelled to Manila, Palawan, and Baguio all in one day. Imagine all the vomiting I have done.

11. I went to Macao and held up by immigration for not "speaking english well".

12. I think that Avril Lavigne is the most beautiful celebrity ever. She doesn't age.

13. I don't watch horror movies.

14. When I was in college, I used to be a jeepney "kundoktor" on weekends. Yeah, it  makes money.

15. I don't like it when I my friends call me fat. I know it's a joke but sometimes it just get me. You don't have to point it out. You don't think I know that?

16. Let's just skip no.16. Brings bad memories.

17. I don't know if this makes sense to you but I usually have a crush with someone then once I get to know them, the malice of having a crush on them dies and they become my very good friends.

18. It's been 6 months that I've been trying to fake the British accent but I just can't.

19. I love rap/hiphop music. I swear!

20. There are still stuff about me that I just want to keep to myself. I'm sorry!

Father's Day 2015

Saturday, June 20, 2015

Dear Dad,
Those mistakes I made in the past were my desperate attempts to make you proud of me. You were right, coz when I stopped trying everything turned out just right.

I'm sorry I didn't pursue medicine or join the army like what you always want me to be. You see I'm just like you I'm a rebel.

I love you Pa. Happy Father's Day.

Bonded for Life

Tuesday, June 09, 2015

Some people need years to create a bond, ours only took 3 months and I know it will last a lifetime.

He is the first volunteer who stayed with me the longest. Our relationship did not stay within the four walls of the Hospital, He became the younger brother I wish I had. I look out for him and I know I got his back. I know his secrets and he definitely knows what I'm all about.

How did this happen? I really don't know. It was instantaneous. It goes beyond reasons. What I do know is that God gave me a brother from another mother because people couldn't take it if we share the same blood.

So now when people ask me how many siblings I have, I just say 3 and one of them is living in Denmark.

Dooped

In this life we meet people. They come and they go. Some of them are real and most of them are fake.

They fake it real good that they had you going. Then there will be moments where in you will see things clearly. In a snap you wake up from the uncertainty.

Yeah, they fooled you. You got dooped because you got things they wish they had.

When you find it out. It's okay to cry. After that hold your head up high, blink away the tears and kiss them goodbye.

8 Years of Great Work

Wednesday, June 03, 2015

I was lucky, i found the things I love at the age of 17. I was doing what I love doing at such a young age. I was holding school on my left and radio on my right. I love talking. I love learning things about people.  Even in school you can't see me being boxed in one clique. I hangout with the nerds, the hotties, the popular kids, the wallflowers and basically everyone. I always made it a point that I knew the things that made them tick.

And on the radio I talk about those things and shared them to everyone. For a moment, I love what I was doing. I was on top of my game. I keep running that race on the frontline. No backing down. No looking back.

Then, I have to make a choice. I have to leave one of the things I love to prioritize one. Believe me, i was broken hearted. I was down. I was struggling to keep it.

Growing up you could tell that I am the one your parents were afraid you'd turn out to be like.

Everyone comes with a baggage. Mine just happens to unpacked in a mess when you met me. I'm lucky coz i have people who helped me fold that mess and keep my life tidy.

They said I'm a rebel without a cause. I'm just glad I got all the support I need from the people I love for all the right and wrong reasons.

I don't like it when people call me i'm a free spirit. To me it's a nicer way of saying that I am everywhere and that i am out of control. If I am out of control I wouldn't still be here. I could definitely handle myself and my alcohol.

Beyonce said that you just have to be happy. That also apply with work. You have to be happy with what you do so that you could do great work.

When people tries to turn you into someone you are not, just let them but at the end of the day you have to stand at your own truth and that's what's important.

Thank you so much guys!
